Microsoft turns off Windows 7/8.1 updates for Ryzen and Kaby Lake

Microsoft has started the process of built-in obsolescence to current hardware by blocking updates of Windows 7 and Windows 8.1 to Intel 7th Generation (Kaby Lake), AMD Bristol Ridge (Ryzen) and Qualcomm 8996 (Snapdragon 82x) processors.
This error occurs because new processor generations require the latest Windows version for support. The KB article (KB 4012982) applies to users who attempt to update one of those two operating systems, but receive an error message notifying them that their CPU is not supported or a Code 8024003 error (unknown error). When Microsoft first announced this policy, Skylake processors were also set to be affected, but the company changed its mind, making an announcement in August 2016. So they've chose to roll out a processor check in Windows Update on Windows 7 and Windows 8.1, preventing users from download updates if their system contains a Kaby Lake or Ryzen CPU. But the estimated 47% of worldwide computer users who still use Windows 7 (and the 8% on Windows 8.1) need to account for the cost of Windows 10 as part of a Kaby Lake upgrade.
The company's previous methods of convincing users to make the jump have upset some, and this policy is sure to ruffle feathers as well.
The former software engineer then goes on to suggest that the low adoption rate of Windows 10 might be the real reason for Microsoft's scrapping of support for older operating systems on newer CPUs.
It seems Microsoft will not provide Windows updates for Windows 7 and 8.1 on any computers running on these new processors. That operating system is in mainstream support until January 2018, and during mainstream support Microsoft can potentially deliver feature improvements and other non-security updates. That said, I understand you can still use Windows 7 and 8 product keys on fresh Windows 10 installs.
Windows 10 Creators Update is, naturally, the biggest selling point for Surface Pro 5.
Have you upgraded to Intel's Kaby Lake or AMD's Ryzen, but still refuse to give up on Windows 7? This update even received bad reviews due to its problem with battery life. As such, the tech giant decided that only Windows 10 would run on the processors that were of the seventh generation and beyond.
