The Trump administration wants to build a 30-foot-high border wall that looks good from the north side and is hard to climb or cut through, according to a pair of contract notices posted to a government website further detailing President Donald Trump's promise to build a "big, attractive wall" at the Mexican border. That means 30 feet tall, although the officials wrote that "designs with heights of at least 18 feet may be acceptable".

However the government is flexible on certain details.

U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) has released two Requests for Proposal to award multiple contracts and initial task orders for the design and construction of wall prototypes.

Last week, company spokesman, Jorge Perez, said Cemex also won't supply third-party contractors working on the wall with cement or other building materials.

The proposed wall must be built in a such a way it would take at least an hour to cut through it with a "sledgehammer, auto jack, pick axe, chisel, battery operated impact tools, battery operated cutting tools, Oxy/acetylene torch or other similar hand-held tools".

On Sunday, the White House, via one heck of a Fox News chyron, announced its requirements for President Trump's proposed border wall with Mexico. Border Patrol agents are constantly repairing holes in the structure.

The wall - and having Mexico pay for it - was a central promise President Donald Trump made on the campaign trail. A federal contracting expert told CNN this approach is common when the government knows generally what it wants, but is interested in seeing different ideas to accomplish the goals.

This is the latest step in the Trump administration plan to build a border wall.

It will select from those proposals several 30-foot-long prototypes to be built.

"The wall design shall be physically imposing in height", the Custom and Border Protection said in the request for bids.

Meanwhile, Trump's budget calls for an outlay of $2.6 billion to begin work on the wall and another $1.5 billion for expanded detention, transportation and removal of illegal immigrants, .
