Donna Brazile Admits She Leaked CNN Town Hall Topics to Clinton Campaign

Former interim Democratic National Committee chair and CNN political commentator Donna Brazile has apologized for passing along debate questions to the Hillary Clinton campaign during last year's contest for the Democratic presidential nomination.

In an email exchange Saturday with the website Journal-isms, Brazile strongly denied that she had shared any debate questions with Clinton's campaign.

In an essay for Time published on Friday, March, 17, Brazile said sending Hillary Clinton's campaign a list of topics for a TV town hall event in advance was "a mistake I will forever regret". She wrote Friday in Time magazine: "I$3 n October, a subsequent release of emails revealed that among the many things I did in my role as a Democratic operative and D.N.C".

Brazile defended herself by saying that she received support from Bernie Sanders' former staff, yet the "selective" e-mail leaks fragmented party unity. She insisted that Russians had hacked and released the e-mails in a way that made it appear that she was playing favorites, but she was not.

"When I was asked last July to step in temporarily as D.N.C. Chair", she explained, "I knew things were amiss".

Supporters of the self-declared "democratic socialist" were similar in some respects to supporters of President Trump-they were fiercely loyal and felt ostracized by politicians in Washington, D.C. In the wake of emails that were released by Wikileaks, DNC Chairwoman Debbie Wasserman Schultz resigned from her post.

The night of the debate a similar question was asked of Clinton and her primary opponent Vermont Democratic Sen.

After the third presidential debate between Mr. Trump and Mrs. Clinton on October 19, Ms. Brazile side-stepped questions with a non-sequitur. Brazile has argued that since the e-mails were stolen, she is not the one in wrong.

A new batch of stolen emails published later that month revealed another questionable email from Brazile to Podesta with the subject, "One of the questions directed to HRC tomorrow is from a woman with a rash".

CNN hosted the Democratic primary debates and Donna Brazile, a staffer at CNN, had access to both insider information at CNN and a close link to the Democratic party.

Those with that interpretation included reporters from Fox News, CNN, The Hill, The Washington Times, Cox Media Group, and more. She ended the segment telling Megyn Kelly, "Go to Russian Federation".

In another email, dated March 12, she passed on to Palmieri a question on the death penalty set to be asked in a March 13 town hall and said: "From time to time I get the questions in advance".

Brazile said she will "forever regret" what she did.
