Liverpool star named as 'technically the best' Klopp's worked with

  • Liverpool defender Ragnar Klavan looking forward to facing 'wounded' Manchester City

City are now 12 points behind Chelsea in the Premier League title race while with 30 points to play for, Liverpool stay fourth.

Both sides are in contention for the top four places but sharing the spoils gave Manchester United and Arsenal renewed hope of finishing above them.

Guardiola, victor of two Champions Leagues and three La Liga titles with Barcelona plus three Bundesliga titles with Bayern, said his side had deserved all three points.

City's equaliser was slickly executed, with De Bruyne delivering a teasing low cross from the right that Aguero tucked home from just outside the six-yard box. The visitors could have walked away with three points if Lallana had found the back of the net 11 minutes from time. Because it's not easy to play central defender with this manager.

Manchester City and Liverpool ran rampant on each other for 90 minutes as penalty decisions and missed chances meant a 1-1 draw.

But whereas most managers would square up to one another and carry on, the pair quickly made up with a pretty weird - yet hilarious - high five, instigated by Guardiola (see below).

'I am delighted to have John with all the huge amount of mistakes he has, I love him.

Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp retorted drily: "He's Spanish. They're more emotional than the Germans".

Klopp said: "Adam is one of the best technical players I ever worked with".

"These things can happen".

The hosts conceded a penalty early in the second half when Liverpool winger Firmino chased a high ball into the penalty area where he was brought down by City left-back Gael Clichy.

The result took Liverpool four points clear of fifth-placed Manchester United - which has played two games fewer - ahead of the worldwide break, and Milner was relieved not to have been left with a defeat to reflect on.

"After the game Adam said immediately to me "sorry", and I thought, 'Why?' Now I know why he thought he had to say sorry but he doesn't have to because his performance was outstanding".

Klopp said: "We are still in a battle and our next game is not only a derby, it is a really important game. One goal a year", he said with a smile. "All the rest must fight with everything they have until the end of season".
