  • Mr Bull went to Lutterworth Grammar School and studied Business Management at Aston University. He was a keen rugby player and captained the Old Actonians RFC in London

A 32-year-old man was fatally electrocuted while charging his iPhone in the bath, an inquest has heard.

His injuries were so bad, his wife Tanya at first thought he had been attacked.

Recording a verdict of accidental death, the coroner said, "These (iPhones) seem like innocuous devices but can be as unsafe as a hairdryer in a bathroom".

The Guardian reports that Richard Bull, 32, of Britain, died of electrocution and burns when he dropped his phone - still connected to the charger - into the tub where he Saturday. Police Chief Craig Pattinson says,"We found an iPhone plugged into the extension cable and then the charger element in the bath".

The coroner ruled a verdict of accidental death and said he would be sending a report to Apple in order to prevent further accidents. He also intends to write reports to Apple to look into such matters and at least attach warnings to avoid further incidents.

Paramedics pronounced Bull dead on their arrival at the family's home.

The Mail quoted Bull's brother Andrew as saying: "I live in the U.S. and they say it can't happen, and that there is not enough electricity".

"We can all be careless at times", his brother, Andrew Bull, said. You don't think there is enough electricity to do this, but there is.
