A few days ago we brought you the news that Stephen king had seen THE DARK TOWER film and said it was "Terrific".

Expect a trailer to follow soon. The new poster was released by Sony Pictures with a message reminding viewers that "There are other worlds than these". It's a shock to see how long it's taken to find its way onto the big screen, but later this year the first instalment of what's expected to be a long-running franchise will drop, starring Idris Elba in the lead role of Roland Deschain, alongside Matthew McConaughey as Walter O'Dim.

Maybe this is just the fanboy in me who's been waiting more than a decade for this movie talking, but. this is a flawless poster. Perhaps the coolest part about the poster though is that if you look at the silhouette created by the buildings, it actually resembles the titular tower. That's a ideal metaphor for the Tower. When viewed normally, the poster appears to show a world that is upside down, one where Roland (Idris Elba) and Jake are seemingly standing on nothing while the Man in Black (Matthew McConaughey) is at the top walking along the street. Located in the fey region of End-World, amid a sea of singing red roses, the Dark Tower is the nexus point of the time-space continuum.

Stephen King's The Dark Tower is the most ambitious and expansive story from one of the world's most celebrated authors. Arcel co-wrote the screenplay for the film, based on the books by King, along with Akiva Goldsman, Jeff Pinker, and Anders Thomas Jensen.
