A victor of 79 PGA Tour events including five in 2013, Woods had his first surgery three years ago, forcing him to miss the Masters in 2014 for the first time.

With golf's first major of the year just two weeks away, Tiger Woods' manager Mark Steinberg claims the 14-time major champion is "not in a situation to even talk about playing in the Masters".

'I'm trying. I'm trying everything extra to be able to get back and play.

"I've been a part of so many Masters over the course of my career, I know exactly what it takes to get ready for that event. It has so much history and meaning to me that I'd love to get back there".

"I need to get back physically", he added.

"I have no idea who Mr. Wacker's (author of the article) really close sources are but I can tell you this, nobody spoke to him (Wacker); so how he could know something that Tiger and I don't know is comical", Steinberg said last night. "He's working hard at getting better, he's working hard at progressing".

Unfortunately for the golfing great, he's not sure if he'll be able to play in the annual event next month.

Tiger Woods was on a small putting green Monday, while on the set of Good Morning America. I haven't been able to get as much prep time in, haven't been able to train like I used to, practice like I used to, so it's been harder. and My priorities have changed a lot.

"I've been practicing, I haven't been playing", Woods said. He attended no activities at the Genesis Open, where his foundation is the beneficiary.

Woods' agent disputed a Golf Digest report last Friday saying that Woods was "doubtful" for Masters, saying no decision had been made. He could play in next week's Shell Houston Open, but Woods has never played the Houston event, and has never played the week prior to the Masters as a pro. The Masters is set to tee off on April 6.
