Trump Says North Korea Dictator 'Is Acting Very, Very Badly'

The test of a new high-thrust rocket engine was hailed as a "great leap forward" by North Korea, state media reported Sunday.

While that's largely in line with prior USA positions, Tillerson's recent comments - and Twitter posts from President Donald Trump - suggest the level of anxiety over North Korea is rising.

Trump made the comments to reporters while departing his Mar-a-Lago resort in Florida, US, where he spent the weekend.

Speaking in South Korea on Friday, Tillerson said that military action against the secretive state was an 'option'.

North Korea conducted a ground test of a new type of high-thrust rocket engine on Saturday at the Sohae launch site, according to the Korean Central News Agency.

Although neither side brought up the subject publicly, Tillerson was expected to raise the prospect of financial penalties on Chinese companies and banks that do business with North Korea.

It comes after North Korea has conducted five nuclear tests and a series of missile launches, in defiance of United Nations sanctions.

"The whole world would soon witness what eventful significance the great victory won today carries", KCNA quoted Kim as saying.

During his three-nation Asia trip, Tillerson not only denounced North Korean tests but also said that the United States is open to any pre-emptive strike against Pyongyang.

In his comments in Seoul, Tillerson laid out details of the US approach, saying it would focus on getting China to better enforce United Nations sanctions against North Korea.

"Some of these technologies which the North Koreans are including in their rocket expansion program actually have to do with a covert method of firing missiles without being detected in advance of actually exploding the devices", Hertling said.
