Forbes notes that Trump is the first billionaire president in USA history and said " the business that made him rich remains intact".
The U.S. had the most billionaires with a number of 565, and China came the second with 319 billionaires.
He was followed by Zara boss Amancio Ortega with US$71.3b ($101b), and then Facebook founder Mark Zuckerberg in fifth place with an estimated value of US$69.1b ($98b).
According to the list, Trump lost one billion dollars, with his worth dropping from 4.5 billion dollars to 3.5 billion dollars.
Forbes also said Trump's wealth was hit by US$66 million in political spending on his successful presidential campaign, as well as US$25 million to settle litigation he allegedly ripped off students at Trump University.
Eight of the top 10 on the list hail from the United States.
Twenty-three of the world's tech billionaires are under the age of 40, including the world's youngest self-made billionaire, John Collison, who cofounded payments startup Stripe with his brother Patrick Collison.
