Isaiah Thomas (knee) back in starting lineup for game vs. Wizards

  • Crowder accepts lesser role with Celtics

All of those potential advantages become moot though if the Celtics don't take care of business Monday.

Yet, when looking for his signature highlight in last night's 110-102 win against the Washington Wizards at the Garden, that's exactly what Thomas did in his first game back after missing two due to a bone bruise on his right knee.

With Washington having 12 games left, nine will be against teams either now in the playoff picture or just on the outside looking in.

Of those seven teams, five (Indiana; Miami; Milwaukee; Cleveland and Milwaukee a second time) will play at the TD Garden down this homestretch. Barring a complete collapse by Boston down the stretch (highly unlikely with 8 of Boston's final 11 games coming at home) the Wizards would not be able to catch the green in the conference record category, effectively guaranteeing Boston the end-of-season tiebreaker between the two squads (if it comes up).

And home has been good to Boston lately with four straight wins at the TD Garden, and victories in 11 of their last 12 home games dating back to January 25. The Washington Wizards are allowing 36.5 percent shooting from deep and are grabbing 43 rebounds per game. "We knew it", said Thomas.

The Wizards will have a chance to get back in the win column on Wednesday when they host the Hawks.

And as we've seen in their four game regular season series, that's a huge factor when you consider the home team has won every game.

Jae Crowder is part of stay-in-the-moment crew on this Celtics roster. According to the performance between these two sides, both of them are playing well in this National Basketball Association season. "Both teams ... you could say we don't like each other a little bit; good old fashioned battle".

"It never got dirty", Crowder said of Monday's game. Most of the extra curricular actions took place the last time the Wizards were in Boston, which resulted in a couple of technical fouls in the game and some postgame antics that ended up with players from both teams receiving fines. It's also going to be a game that could go a long way towards deciding which team will emerge as the solid number 2 seed in the Eastern Conference. That helped Boston pick up right where they left off in the first half as they blew the game open to a 74-54 lead at one point in the third quarter.
