  • Man Jumps Into Lagos Lagoon

Vanguard gathered that the medical practitioner, who was without a life-jacket, jumped into the lagoon at about 4: 30 pm.

A co-staff of the medical doctor, Allwell Orji who jumped into the Lagos Lagoon on Sunday, said he showed no sign of depression when he was at work last Friday.

It was gathered that the doctor, who was driven by his driver, had ordered him to park his Pathfinder Nissan Sports Utility Vehicle (SUV) marked LND476EE on the bridge, before taking over the steering.

A police source told Nigerian Tribune that "they were coming from a church on the island and when they got to Adeniji Adele, he told the driver to stop the vehicle".

As at 7p.m., operatives of the Lagos State Rapid Response Squad (RRS) and the Marine Police Unit were still battling to rescue him.

"The driver parked the auto, the doctor came down and immediately jumped into the Lagoon".

When PREMIUM TIMES contacted LASEMA's general manager, Adesina Tiamiyu, on Monday morning, he said that the body of Mr. Orji had not been found.

Officials of the Lagos State Emergency Management Agency, LASEMA and the police are now at the scene to retrieve the body of the victim.

As at press time, there has been no trace of Orji, who jumped into the lagoon by Adekunle area of Third Mainland Bridge.

Our reporter who visited the home of the victim today said that mother of the victim was flanked by sympathizers, who constantly consoled her.
