  • Samsung Galaxy S8 obliterates iPhone 7 Plus in benchmark score

"The Galaxy S8's Virtual Home Button is a pressure-sensitive ability".

Both smartphones are expected to be powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 octa-core SoC in certain markets, while in other markets they will be powered by Samsung's in-house developed Exynos 9 8895 series SoC.

Get this: Samsung manufactures all three. Reports from these microbloggers, however, suggest functionality not entirely unlike the extra press available in the iPhone's 3D touch, or MacBook's Force Touch.

That fits in with the very small bit of information Samsung has released about the phone, which is a found in teaser graphic that seems to show an all-screen front and a screen that spills over its sides.

Despite its name, it's believed that the Orchid Grey S8 will have a slightly purple tinge to its finish, acting as an alternative to Apple's slightly pinkish Rose Gold iPhone option. This would easily be one of the most expensive phones yet.

Samsung offers "premium" products in all price categories.

As for the camera specifications, Samsung is said to stick with the same DualPixel technology that we saw on the Galaxy S7 series. Both the flagship devices are seen sporting thin bezels with rounded corners and curved edges. However, it appears that talks between the two Samsung affiliates aren't going as smoothly as they would like. You know, because they are the only ones making them!

There's an epic battle brewing for the title of Best Smartphone of 2017.

A video posted to Vimeo shows the Galaxy S8 with a score of 205284, destroying the iPhone 7 Plus' score of 181807 (the iPhone 7 scores 173575). The rear camera will be a 12MP unit with Dual Pixel tech, identical to the setup on the Galaxy S7 and Galaxy S7 Edge.

While VR is now built into Android, Samsung builds on this by partnering with Oculus and continuing their line of Gear VR headsets. This will allow for more content on the screen and will influence form changes as well.
