He was asked to mention the case again on March 31 when the court may pass some formal orders.

Reacting to the apex court ruling, Dattareya Hosable, a senior RSS leader said,"It is to be decided by the Dharma Sansad and all the other parties who went to court. We welcome this step and believe there should be talks outside the court as well", Sambit Patra, BJP spokesperson told reporters.

The apex court has asked the concerned parties to sit together and arrive at a consensus, adding that since the topic is a sensitive and sentimental issue, it's best the issue be settled amicably. The SC bench headed by CJI Khehar suggested a settlement outside court.

"Negotiations have failed earlier, an out of court settlement is not possible", Zafaryab Jilani, Convenor of BMAC said.

During the hearing, Swamy tells court that ASI confirmed that Babri Masjid was built on a temple and Allahabad High Court too had accepted the fact. This has to be dealt in the court itself.

Hearing a petition filed by the Bharatiya Janata Party's Subramanian Swamy today, the Supreme Court today said the construction of a Ram Mandir at Ayodhya was an issue of sentiment and religion, and asked the disputing parties to sort the matter outside court.

On February 26, the apex court had allowed Swamy to intervene in the pending matters relating to the Ayodhya title dispute with his plea seeking construction of Ram temple at the site of demolished disputed structure.

The demolition of the 16th-century mosque by Hindu mobs in 1992 triggered some of India s worst riots that killed about 2,000 people. The case has been pending since then. The High Court judgment had said Lord Ram was born under the central dome of the makeshift temple in Ayodhya and Hindus have the right to worship there. "The Ram Janmabhoomi is for the Ram Mandir and it should be used for the Ram temple only", he said.
