Both the jersey worn in Brady's fifth league championship over the Atlanta Falcons, and the one he'd worn two years earlier when the team topped the Seattle Seahawks, were recovered "in the possession of a credentialed member of the global media", the NFL said in a statement.

The man who authorities say stole Super Bowl jerseys from Tom Brady may also be the same man who stole Von Miller's Super Bowl 50 helmet, according to Jay Glazer of Fox Sports.

Following the 34-28 Super Bowl win over the Atlanta Falcons, Brady could be heard in the locker room searching for his jersey.

Brady said he had put the jersey in his bag after the game but later discovered it had gone missing.

The NFL released a statement yesterday to announce Brady's famously stolen jersey, which was valued on the market at $500,000, was tracked down in Mexico by the Federal Bureau of Investigation and Houston Police Dept.

The alleged suspect has been identified as Mauricio Ortega, a former executive at a news company called Diario La Prensa.

The jersey has been found.

"If these allegations are correct, Editora La Prensa firmly condemns the behaviour of (Ortega), who, taking advantage of his position, used La Prensa to obtain a press credential representing it and thus gain access to the playing field, press conferences and probably other areas of NRG Stadium".

The worldwide media member was apparently caught on video entering the Patriots' locker room behind Bill Belichick after New England's come-from-behind Super Bowl 51 victory.

"We're highly confident that these are in fact the jerseys, based on our investigative efforts", he said.

But the Bureau made another bit of news on Monday.

Texas Lt. Gov. Dan Patrick, who had invited the Department of Public Safety's Texas Rangers to join the posse looking for the jersey, posted a statement Monday on Facebook.

The recovery of the second jersey was a surprise as it was unknown that Brady was missing that one, as well. If it ends up on eBay, let me know. "Hopefully when I get the jerseys back I can make something very positive come from this experience".

"Proud @houstonpolice Major Offenders Divison traced Brady Jersey to Mexico & it has been recovered with help of FBI & Mexican authorities", the policeman wrote on Twitter. He described the theft as the only blemish on an otherwise successful Super Bowl.

"You don't come to Texas and embarrass us here on our own turf", Acevedo told reporters on Monday.

The NFL is investigating the burglary of a Broncos helmet that was recovered as part of the ongoing investigation into Tom Brady's stolen Super Bowl jerseys, the league confirmed.
