No. 7 seed MI rallied from a nine-point deficit in the second half for a 73-69 win over No. 2 seed Louisville on Sunday to reach the Sweet 16 for the first time since 2014.

Dorsey's heroics were a fitting conclusion to a day in which he scored 27 points and sank 9 of 10 shots he attempted. OR won 75-72 after E.C. Matthews missed a 3-point shot in the last few seconds of the game.

URI closed the first half on a 14-2 run - including 7-0 over the final 1:30 with Matthews' three-point play at 52.6 - in the last 3:23.

They kept up the pace, attacking the OR defense and leading by as much as 11 points with more than 13 minutes left in the game.

The third-seeded Ducks will face the seventh-seeded Michigan Wolverines in the Sweet Sixteen on Thursday. With the Rams shooting a scorching 59.4 percent from the field in the first half, to go along with 10 turnovers for the Ducks, it was easy to see why OR found itself in such a deficit.

The Rams kept crashing the offensive glass to create extra chances. Oregon, meanwhile, has a 15.9 percent turnover rate in the half-court during the tournament, placing them 52nd out of the field of 68.

Rhode Island outscored OR 6-2 over the first three minutes, but it wasn't long before it started to look like superior talent and athleticism would win the day for the Ducks.

The Rams flexed depth many teams seeded higher wish they could, with Stanford Robinson (six points per game) exploding off the bench for 21 points on 10-of-12 shooting.

OR settled down, playing aggressive defensively with a full-court man defense and looking for traps whenever possible.

"That defense we faced is as good as any defense we faced all year", OR coach Dana Altman said. Junior guard Jared Terrell and senior forward Kuran Iverson have started every game.

The Rams displayed more intensity while still playing with poise in the opening minutes, calmly running their offense and furiously contesting shots at the defensive end.

The Ducks also won't get as many open looks as they have through the first two rounds.

"He got us going in the press and he hit two big free throws", OR coach Dana Altman said.

"Unacceptable", the coach said. "I told him after the game, 'How would you have felt in a close ballgame like this if that was the difference?' ..." Bobby Hurley wasn't in the stands as he had to return to host recruits at Arizona State, but coaching father Bob watched proudly. "It's very hard to describe".
