While the Celtics traveled on a mini two-game road trip, Thomas spent the weekend rehabbing his knee while also getting plenty of rest.

Covington scored 23 points.

The Celtics were without Isaiah Thomas, who's missed Boston's last two games due to a bone bruise in his right knee. Today, we won and we deserved it. A win tonight would be huge for Boston because it would add momentum to the start of a six-game home stand. While veteran center Al Horford had a season-high 27 points on 11-for-16 shooting for Boston, he went scoreless (0-for-3) in the fourth.

"That's part of the growth of this team", said Covington, who finished with 16 points and eight rebounds.

In a one possession game, Saric supplied an impressive lay-up with 59.6 seconds to go, bodying up on the seasoned Horford to muscle out important insurance points that widened the Sixers' gap to five, 100-95. "That's what we did this game".

The Celtics, who open a six-game homestand Monday night and play nine of their last 12 at home, left Philadelphia just one ahead of Washington in the loss column for the No. 2 seed in the Eastern Conference. Without him Boston struggled down the stretch.

Robert Covington made the go-ahead 3-pointer late in the fourth quarter to lead the Philadelphia 76ers to a 105-99 win over the Boston Celtics on Sunday. We're basketball players. We love it. We had a lot of guys who stepped up; we just stopped playing the right way.

"Finally we beat them", Saric said.

"I was in here two times a day; in the morning and at night", Thomas said.

"You didn't have to say much to get ready for this game", Boston coach Brad Stevens said. That in turn created easy opportunities for the Sixers.

The first three games this season between the 76ers and Atlantic Division rival Boston were bitterly close.

Thirteen days later, they played The Funeral Game. This is most certainly going to be a game that the Wizards want to get up for, so we'll see if that leads to a more complete game. Bradley also averages just under 17 points per game and is shooting 41% from 3-point range, so this will really be a great battle between two of the best shooting guards in the East tonight.

Heading into Sunday's bout, the first three match-ups of the season between the Sixers and Celtics were decided by a combined total of 13 points. A Rookie of the Year award for Dario Saric would be another concrete example that points to a bright future for the Sixers. The Wizards had 42 wins and Celtics had 44 wins out of 69 and 70 played respectively.

"Our bench deserves a lot of credit, where we set the table, especially at the end of the third period", said Brown. It's in the forefront of our minds - we're playing for a championship run, a playoff run.
