The Prime Minister, Shri Narendra Modi, today inaugurated the Kiran Multi-Speciality Hospital, and the Diamond Manufacturing Unit of M/s Hare Krishna Exports Pvt Ltd in Surat.

Addressing a gathering at the inauguration of a hospital for the poor in the western Indian state of Gujarat's Surat city, Modi slammed doctors for writing prescriptions hard for poor people to understand, forcing them to buy medicine from private stores at high prices. He said that government is working on the initiative of building more and more hospitals and bringing more doctors and proper facilities to the people of India.

The veteran parliamentarian, who is a Lok Sabha member from Kangra, said in a statement that patients in India are denied generic drugs as doctors "benefit" from pharmaceutical companies for writing branded medicines.
