Cahill urges Chelsea to dig in after United defeat

The 19-year-old England global played a key role in United's 2-0 win over Premier League leaders Chelsea on Sunday, scoring for the second game running to boost their top-four hopes.

Jamie Redknapp claims Marcus Rashford has proven he can fill Zlatan Ibrahimovic's shoes at Manchester United following his impressive performance in the 2-0 victory over Chelsea.

Marcus Rashford and Ander Herrera scored early in each half as United blew the title race wide open and boosted their own hopes of finishing in the top four with a valuable victory at Old Trafford.

It was the ninth goal of a campaign that has seen the 19-year-old struggle to replicate his remarkable breakthrough, but the forward has retained Mourinho's belief throughout - with both featuring in our Winners and Losers. "He is still very, very young and I think he is very important for us".

"We didn't play a good game and United deserved to win the game. hey showed more desire, more ambition, more motivation".

"In football, I think if you do not have the intention to touch the ball and you have your arms in a natural position it is not a handball".

"We knew that playing this way would be very hard for them".

Indeed few would have predicted that Mourinho's men would dominate the would-be champions so much on Easter Sunday as Chelsea's lead at the top of the table was cut to just four points.

"I didn't want to touch the ball with the hand", Herrera told Sky Sports.

"I think everyone is concentrated for this end of the season because we know we play for two big opportunities. Every game is going to get more and more hard; other teams are going to want it more and we will want it more, so we just have to go and get the results".

The Blues' run-in also looks a little kinder, with home games against Southampton, Middlesbrough, Watford and Sunderland - but a real test to come at Everton.

Chelsea's April 1 home defeat to Crystal Palace was followed by wins over Manchester City and Bournemouth that eased concerns of a late-season slump.

The top two will now meet at Wembley in the FA Cup semi-finals next weekend in what would be a significant test of Chelsea's mettle.
