The statements from the North Korean officials came as the USA president, Donald Trump, told the government in Pyongyang that it has "gotta behave" and his vice-president, Mike Pence, said the "era of strategic patience is over". Pence pointed to Trump's recent strikes on a Syrian airbase and an Islamic State complex in Afghanistan as a warning to Pyongyang not to underestimate the administration's resolve.

Pence said on Monday the world had seen Trump's resolve in the past two weeks, with a US missile attack on a Syrian airfield and the dropping of a powerful non-nuclear bomb on Islamic State fighters in Afghanistan. "We are with you 100 percent".

The support rate for the suspended THAAD deployment procedure was 18.0 percentage points higher than those who demanded a continued push for the USA missile shield installation. He also met with American troops stationed at the joint US-South Korean military camp.

That deal was soon scuppered, however, when North Korea carried out its first nuclear test in October 2006 then pulled out of the discussions in 2009. Over the weekend, North Korea had tested another missile, which blew up shortly after it was launched. But the vice president expressed impatience with the unwillingness of the North to move toward ridding itself of nuclear weapons and ballistic missiles.

In a rare interview with Hong Kong's Pheonix Television that aired on Friday, Wu conveyed China's position that Washington and Pyongyang should agree to a "dual suspension" of nuclear tests and military drills as a foundation for returning to talks - a stance opposed by both the United States and its ally South Korea. "Most concerning is the fact that the US trade deficit with South Korea has more than doubled since the KORUS FTA came into effect".

"But the era of strategic patience is over", he declared.

"North Korea would do well not to test his resolve - or the strength of the armed forces of the United States in this region", Pence said at the start of a 10-day trip to Asia.

On a 10-day Asia trip that will also take him to Indonesia and Australia, Mr Pence stressed that the U.S. hopes China will use its leverage to get its longtime ally North Korea to abandon its nuclear weapons programme.

Mr Trump wrote on Sunday on Twitter that China was working with the United States on "the North Korea problem".

"The biggest difference (with Syria) is North Korea's readiness to retaliate, and the ability to attack with nuclear weapons".

The Trump administration wants to find more of that kind of foreign direct investment, and hopes to attract some with the $1 trillion plan to rebuild US roads, bridges and other types of infrastructure. "If they are used by North Korea for military goal, they must have been modified by the North Korean side", said the sales manager, who would give only his surname, Wang.

"If the United States is reckless enough to use military means it would mean from that very day, an all out war".

At a news conference at the United Nations on Monday, North Korea's permanent representative Ambassador Kim In-ryong, condemned the USA missile strikes in Syria, which targeted an air base after a suspected chemical attack by the government.

Wang told reporters that although USA officials have made clear that a military strike remains on the table, he believes that Washington would still prefer to de-escalate tensions through multi-sided talks.

And what about other world powers?

In Beijing, Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi made a new appeal Tuesday for calm on the Korean Peninsula.

Zhongnanhai sells the trucks to a dealer in the border city of Dandong before they are resold to North Korea, he said.

Russia's Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said Moscow would not tolerate "missile adventures by Pyongyang" but a unilateral use of power by the U.S. would be "a very risky course".

"It is a matter of paramount importance for us to seek diplomatic efforts as well as peaceable settlements of the issue", Mr. Abe said.

He added that Japan needed to apply pressure on Pyongyang to "seriously respond to a dialogue" with the global community.
