  • The 9-year-old boy injured in a murder-suicide shooting at North Park Elementary in San Bernardino is recovering according to his parents

Monday's tragedy in San Bernardino will live on in the minds of students at North Park Elementary School for a long time-especially those who personally witnessed the shootings of their teacher, her assailant husband and two classmates.

"911 emergency", a female emergency dispatcher answered the phone, at 10:24 a.m. "Operator - ".at North Park Elementary. Yup. Authorities said the shooter had an existing relationship with a North Park teacher who was a victim. "Hold on, hold on, don't hang up".

Nolan Brandy remained hospitalized after being shot Monday in a classroom at North Park Elementary School in San Bernardino, officials said.

At the time of the shooting, Smith, teacher's aide Jennfier Downing and another aide were working with tables of four to five students. Using a Smith & Wesson.357 Magnum revolver, he fired 10 shots, stopping to reload once. Two students were behind her and were also shot; one of them-8-year-old Jonathan Martinez-fatally.

Leon Brandy says the 9-year-old is "in good spirits" and is looking forward to going home. He said he needed to drop something off for Smith, and was then allowed to enter. "He's wearing a beige blazer". When Anderson got to B-1, he opened fire on Smith and struck Martinez and another student in the chaos.

Authorities say Anderson had accused his wife of infidelity, prompting her to move out.

What appears to be Anderson's Facebook page features many public declarations of love for Smith between statements of religious devotion before his last public post on March 15. "I don't think it's sunk in yet". "North Park is strong and we will continue to be strong". There are movable dividers between classrooms, rather than brick walls.

Parents, some wearing shirts that said "Pray for North Park", walked their children to the school door and hugged each another in the parking lot.

"Is the guy still on the campus?" Caller - "I'm. (inaudible)" Operator - "Don't hang up!" Police operator - "That's okay. did you guys lock down?" "We believe the teacher knew who the shooter was", San Bernardino City Unified School District spokeswoman Maria Garcia told KNBC. The classroom since Monday has been cleaned, re-carpeted and painted but will not be used for students. "We have a possible suspect".

"He's a black male". Looks like its possible a husband of the employee.

The school custodian was also praised for saving a child after hearing the shots on campus. "We need to draw strength from each other and find ways each day to find hope, strength and encouragement to our entire North Park community and the city San Bernardino". Another student, a 9-year-old boy, was also shot and is recovering.

A GoFundMe page has been set up to help pay for Martinez's funeral.
