Former NFL star Aaron Hernandez was found dead in his jail cell early Wednesday morning, according to the Massachusetts Department of Corrections.
The attorney is calling for a "transparent and thorough investigation" into the death of his client.
Fallon also said that Hernandez had tried to "block his door from the inside by jamming the door with various items".
Hernandez was found not guilty Friday of two counts of murder in that case, though he was convicted of illegal possession of a firearm.
Hernandez, who was sentenced to life without parole, was found in his cell hung by a bed sheet shortly after 3 a.m. and pronounced dead an hour later at a hospital.
Not all states still have "abatement ab initio" on the books and some eliminated it after the death of those convicted in high profile cases.
Another one of Hernandez's representatives - lawyer Jose Baez - also reportedly is skeptical.
Hernandez was a star tight end for the New England Patriots. The team's owner, Robert Kraft, and coach, Bill Belichick did not address Hernandez's death in their remarks and players declined to comment on it. Prison officials he said did not get any indication from Hernandez that he planned to kill himself. He was in a single cell when he chose to take his life on the same day that some of his former teammates were scheduled to visit the White House after winning the Super Bowl.
With the acquittal, Hernandez's attorneys had turned their attention toward appealing for a new trial in the Lloyd case.
Patriots spokesman Stacey James said: "We are aware of the reports but I don't anticipate that we will be commenting today".
Hernandez was serving a life sentence for the June 2013 murder of Odin Lloyd, a friend who he had become suspicious of for reasons that have never been fully explained. Prosecutors said he gunned them down after one of them accidentally spilled a drink on him in a Boston nightclub.
Hernandez was a fourth-round pick of the Patriots in the 2010 NFL Draft and looked like he had a bright future in the NFL.
