Fox News has severed ties with its star anchor Bill O'Reilly

Bill O'Reilly has released an updated statement after the official announcement of him leaving FOX News Channel.

Fox News had renewed O'Reilly's contract as the NYT story came to light, but the paper reported that new contract details allowed Fox "more leverage over him".

Fox News addressed the departure of Bill O'Reilly Wednesday night, as the show that used to bear his name debuted as simply "The Factor".

O'Reilly was reportedly vacationing in Italy while Fox News executives were reportedly figuring out what to do about the public relations crisis surrounding the multiple sexual harassment allegations against the talk show host - allegations that O'Reilly repeatedly denied.

The reports alleged that O'Reilly would repeatedly befriend junior women and offer to act as a mentor before trying to pursue relationships and attempting to sabotage their careers if they turned him down. This law firm has uncovered evidence that the smear campaign is being orchestrated by far-left organizations bent on destroying O'Reilly for political and financial reasons.

As the controversy snowballed dozens of advertisers yanked their commercials from his program.

At least now maybe things will have a friendlier air with Carlson sandwiched between Martha McCallum at 7 p.m. and "The Five" at 9 p.m. O'Reilly never passed the baton to Carlson at the close of his show.

The New York Times published a report in January claiming that Fox News had settled several separate sexual harassment lawsuits against O'Reilly over the years, paying out a total of more than $13 million.

Finally, financially hobbled and the target of street protests, Fox News pulled the plug on the host's 21-year run on the network. The letter also said, "His success, by any measure, is indisputable".

Tucker Carlson will get O'Reilly's 8 p.m. slot. starting April 24.

21st Century Fox now owns 39.1% of Sky plc, the owner of Sky News, and is attempting to purchase the remainder of the company.

Nearly immediately after the announcement of O'Reilly's departure, Fox released its new, O'Reilly-less lineup, which will start Monday, the day O'Reilly had been scheduled to return from vacation.

Fox News covered such stories as the congressional election in Georgia's 6th district, the shooting deaths of three white men at the hands of a black gunman in Fresno, Calif., and Secretary of State Rex Tillerson's remarks about strengthening economic partnerships with Saudi Arabia.

For News previously extended O'Reilly's contract, despite being aware of the complaints by fellow co-workers.

The "No-Spin Zone" has officially come to an end for Fox News' Bill O'Reilly after weeks of accelerating speculation over what the network would do about the mass advertiser exodus.

At the time of the Ailes situation, the company stated that it does not tolerate behavior that, "disrespects women or contributes to an uncomfortable work environment".
