Mbappe, Falcao send Monaco into semi-finals

Meanwhile, Kylian Mbappe and Radamel Falcao struck early as AS Monaco reached the semi-finals with a 3-1 home win over Borussia Dortmund to seal a 6-3 aggregate victory.

Coverage of tonight's UEFA Champions League Quarter-Final 2nd Leg game between Monaco v Borussia Dortmund will be shown live on BT Sport 3, with the pre-match build-up starting at 7pm and kick-off set for 7.45pm.

The Ligue 1 leaders, the first team in the Champions League to reach the last four after going through two preliminary rounds, had the game nearly wrapped up after early goals by youngster Kylian Mbappe and Colombian striker Radamel Falcao.

Mbappe scored twice in the first leg, either side of a Bender own goal, to leave Monaco in pole position to reach the semi-finals for the first time in 13 years.

A policeman was injured along with Dortmund's Spanish global defender Marc Bartra, who needed surgery on a broken wrist after being hit by flying glass.

"We knew we needed a performance of the highest level to turn things around, but that wasn't the case", he said.

Dortmund were earlier left unimpressed by their delayed arrival, which the Bundesliga club said in a post on Twitter was because the bus had been stopped by police "for approximately 20 minutes without justification".

In another quarterfinal match, there was a goal fest as hosts Monaco hammered German club Borussia Dortmund 3-1.

And it took just three minutes of this second-leg encounter for Mbappe to pounce on a Roman Burki error at Stade Louis II to become the first player to score in his first four knockout-stage appearances.

Dortmund's fans also sang "Hourrah, Hourrah, Monaco" (Hurray, Hurray Monaco), returning the compliment after Monaco clapped and sang for Dortmund in the first leg.

Dembele and Reus continued to threaten, with Reus having a snapshot saved in the 73rd, while Monaco midfielder Tiemoue Bakayoko headed over and Mbappe failed to control a pass near the penalty spot as the chances came thick and fast on a chilly night.

Although Monaco score a lot of goals they also let in a few at the back, so, this will give the German team some cause for hope in this game. The lead by 3-2 from the first leg but they will know that their opponents are still very unsafe on the break and have a lot of good players in their side.

Burki held his hands up for his mistake, admitting he should have done more to force Benjamin Mendy's swerving effort to safety.

"Maybe if we had lost in the last 16 we would be fresher now, but we won't ask our players to change their mentality".
