  • Dortmund Germany. According to police an explosion detonated as the bus was leaving the hotel where the team was staying

On Wednesday, Tuchel was stinging in his criticism of UEFA for going ahead with the Champions League game so soon after the attack.

"The team wanted so badly a bit of time to deal with it so we were in our best shape because the dream is to go to the semifinals in Europe".

"I am pretty sure that if any of the people that made that decision had been sitting on the bus, that match would not have been played", Klopp said.

Tuchel said UEFA, the governing body of European soccer, treated the team as if a beer can had been thrown at the bus.

"We were in touch with all parties and never received any information which suggested that any of the teams did not want to play", a statement said. "We will not forget it, it is a very bad feeling", Tuchel said, according to BBC Sport.

ESPN FC's Nick Miller gives his firsthand account of how things transpired in and around Dortmund's stadium after news broke of the explosions near the team bus.

German prosecutors say there is now no evidence that the man, identified as Abdul Beset A, has direct links to the Dortmund attacks. I was really concerned, scared for them (the players), I was scared for everyone.

Three explosions hit Dortmund's team bus as they travelled to their Westfalenstadion home on Tuesday, with the match rescheduled later that evening.

"Then I realised how lucky we were".

"We can concentrate on football at the weekend, we can concentrate on training because we were not immediately involved, but for the players involved it is a different situation. We all felt at the start of the match that this wasn't a normal game for us".

Despite Tuchel's words, Roy Keane felt is was the right decision for the game to be played last night.

"Perhaps it also helped us to do something and distract ourselves with football for the 90 minutes". After Tuesday I don't have any more space to think about the game. I will never forget Schmelzer's face.

"Everyone can imagine (that) it was a really hard moment for me because I don't know how I often I have been in team hotel with my team in Dortmund".

At his prematch press conference, Hoffenheim coach Julian Nagelsmann agreed that it would have been "simply impossible to play a normal football match under such circumstances". When I saw Marc.

UEFA's competitions director, Giorgio Marchetti added: "The schedule of these clubs is completely full and the next round of the Champions League will take place in early May".
