Sam Allardyce praises Crystal Palace fightback to earn 'precious point'

20 April, 2017, 11:53 | Author: Alberta Rodriguez
  • Wes Morgan will be hoping to be fully fit when Leicester play Atletico Madrid on Tuesday night

Despite fielding the same starting XI for the games against Southampton and Arsenal, Allardyce has been handed a boost by being able to select Fraizer Campbell on the bench after his injury lay-off, while Martin Kelly makes his 100th Premier League appearance.

But Allardyce was upset with the manner of Robert Huth's goal. That knocked us back a bit but we bounced back without really creating anything in the first half.

The result sees the Eagles edge further away from the relegation zone, with seven points now separating them from the bottom three, but Benteke believes that it should have been even better.

Twelth-placed Leicester next host Atletico hoping to overcome a one-goal deficit from the first leg of their European quarter-final, but when asked if they had become distracted after going two up, Shakespeare responded: "No".

Cabaye pulled one back within just two minutes and it fell to Benteke to head in the leveller, with Palace looking the more likely to seal a win late on, though Leicester held firm.

CHRISTIAN Benteke's second-half header helped his side salvage a point at home to in-form Leicester City. The former Newcastle man made no mistake, sweeping home past Kasper Schmeichel and into the back of the net.

He added: "I don't get a lot of time in games to show my quality on the ball because my priority is to protect the defence".

The Belgium worldwide came close to a victor soon after, but Schmeichel showed his class with a fine save to preserve a point for the Champions League quarter-finalists.

Palace are seven points clear with six games to go and Schlupp believes they have enough quality within their squad to avoid the drop.

"I've enjoyed the challenge of playing in the Premier League".

"It's another game gone closer to the end of the season and it's a precious point keeping our run going".

- Christian Benteke has scored 21 Premier League headed goals since his top-flight debut in September 2012; only Olivier Giroud (24) has scored more.
