Both Samsung and its partners will only be selling the black and gold variants of the Galaxy S8 and the Galaxy S8 Plus in India for the time being, and the company has yet to clarify on whether it's planning to debut more color options in the country later this year, though that seems like a likely scenario.

All these goodies, do come at a price though, as the Galaxy S8 price starts at Rs 57,900.

Samsung's mobile business chief Koh Dongjin said last week that orders "have been better than expected" and that the global response has been "good compared to the Galaxy S7", according to local reports. The prices translate to approximately $895 for the Galaxy S8 and around $1,005 for the Galaxy S8 Plus, meaning Samsung's latest pair of Android flagships is somewhat more expensive in India than it is in many Western markets.

The S8 model also includes a handy device management function with the help of which you can keep a tab on how much memory you are now using, the phone's battery status and the amount of available storage. The S8 gets a 5.8-inch display and the larger variant comes with a 6.2-inch display.

During the scratch test, the razor blade would not make a mark on phone, as both sides are covered by Gorilla Glass 5. Those who pre-book the device stand a chance to win the wireless charger. And the new Galaxy S8 could very well be considered to be the direct successor to the Galaxy S7 Edge and not the regular Galaxy S7, as it features a significantly larger 5.8-inch sized dual-curved Super AMOLED display with QHD+ resolution.

The "Infinity Display" and bezel-less design gives a user 18 per cent more screen with no buttons. As per the claims of the company, the smartphone models can be used for authenticating the transactions with the help of the Iris scanner of the phones.

The analyst further mentions that the details about the camera module, featuring 3x optical zoom, 12-megapixel wide-angle CIS supporting dual photodiode (2PD), 13MP telephoto CIS, dual 6P lenses and dual Optical Image Stabilization. They also come with faster charging capabilities. Sensors on board include an accelerometer, ambient light sensor, barometer, gyroscope, heart rate sensor, magnetometer, and proximity sensor.
