The second surprise though, was that Samsung had teamed up with Microsoft to sell a "Microsoft Edition" Galaxy S8. This newer version of the Samsung smartphones will be releasing on April 21, and made available via Microsoft's retail stores. But the resolution for Galaxy S8 is 2960*1440.

Details as to exactly what "Microsoft Edition" means are scarce. It's got some interesting new tricks, including a way to turn the phone into a desktop PC replacement, and it'll offer a better mobile computing experience than its predecessor.

"Our ambition for Bixby is that it will evolve", said Mark Childs, chief brand officer at Samsung Canada, noting that Samsung aspires to voice assistant dominance and believes they can create a market-winning product. The Galaxy S8 is water-resistant and comes with IP68 certification just like the its predecessor, The Galaxy S7.

There are two ways to take a screenshot on Galaxy S8 or Galaxy S8 Plus. The handset packs some wonderful new features like Infinity Display, which in addition to being nearly bezel-less, also brings some new apps to be used on the edges of the screen. The iris recognition feature is simply the scanning of the iris to unlock the phone, verify Samsung account, and much more.

Samsung with its Galaxy S8s has pulled off something called the Infinity display which is basically more screen at the same size.

In the United States the phones are running on Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 processors while in other countries it will sport Samsung's own Exynos octa-core chip. Both of these screens are departures from the more traditional 16:9 phone (and TV) screens. This APK can be installed on any Samsung device running official Android Nougat, as I can confirm on my AT&T Samsung Galaxy S7. Galaxy S8 has a battery of 3000 mAh while Galaxy S8 Plus has a battery of 3500 mAh.
