Trump family kicks off Easter egg roll

When Donald Trump supporters asked him to sign their baseball caps at the White House Easter Egg Roll, they might not have anticipated his reaction. There was even a miniature press secretary podium where kids could try out Sean Spicer's job (insert obvious joke here).

The guest list includes military families, children from local schools, and children of staff members.

The White House said in the days leading up to the egg roll that it was expecting a crowd of 21,000, per CNN-sizable, though about 14,000 fewer attendees than the final Obama egg roll hosted in 2016. President Donald Trump and the first lady were there to kick off the fun.

President Trump defended his record in office, saying "we are right on track".

While the president and first lady took some time out to take photos with some of the children at the event, it seems like President Trump was eager to get back on message as soon as possible. He said that the First Lady has worked for long just to make the event a ideal one and in line with how they want to be.

It will be interesting to see if The Donald insists, much like with the inauguration, that it was the biggest Easter egg hunt ever. "Think of it - 139", he said. Trump described the kids as "highly, highly competitive" and predicted they'd have successful futures.

Along with his wife Melania and 11-year-old son Barron, Trump's older sons, Don Jr. and Eric, and their wives, and daughter Tiffany also attended the event.

The children receive wooden eggs inscribed with signatures of the president and first lady.

But if playing with freaky bunnies and dudes with scary hair and super long ties is your thing, then go right ahead.

Honey - First Lady, Melania Trump.

White House staffers eventually reached out, and the manufacturer created 18,000 custom eggs. Military bands, a pop-rock band and a family circus performed for the crowd.
