United Airlines changes crew booking policy after passenger dragged off plane

He grabbed it out of his hair and it fell onto his dinner table.

It's been a bumpy PR ride for United Airlines, but this one really stings. Flight attendants trapped it and flushed it down a toilet. A physician on the ground assured the crew that "it was not a life-threatening matter", United spokeswoman Maddie King said in an email on Friday, adding that the airline is "reaching out to the customer to apologize and discuss the matter".

United Airlines found itself on the defensive again on Friday after a passenger complained that a scorpion stung him during a flight from Texas, capping off a bruising week for the public image of the one of the world's largest carriers.

Once the plane landed, border services agents boarded the plane in a bid to inspect the scorpion, not knowing that it had already been discarded.

Bell was transported to a hospital where medical staff stated that he should be okay.

The change comes after a passenger, Dr. David Dao, was dragged from a fully-booked United Express flight in Chicago because he refused to give up his seat to make room for crew members.

On the same day that a passenger was dragged off a United plane, a "stowaway" made it onto another flight.

United apologized and offered Bell and his wife a credit for a future flight. He now has to undergo reconstructive surgery. Attorney Thomas Demetrio also said neither Dao nor his family had heard directly from United since the incident. We want respect and we want dignity.

Trouble seems to come in twos for embattled USA carrier United Airlines.

Munez added that "the carrier would no longer use law enforcement officers to remove passengers from overbooked flights".

Other airlines have not said whether they will increase their compensation limits to displaced passengers. "I was hanging onto it", Bell said in a Skype interview.
