Browns have zeroed in on choice with No. 1 draft pick

"If you're the Browns, it's, 'ok, we have to get in front of Buffalo now. maybe we have to move up and trade with Carolina or the Chargers or Jets. if we want Trubisky, we want to be sure we get him, but we don't want to spend the No. 1 pick on him'". At a press conference yesterday, Browns Vice President Sashi Brown says he feels good about picking at No. 1 but would not say if the team had decided who it will select. The two men did not give up many specifics, but they did offer one particularly interesting nugget. The Browns owns the top or the No. 1 and the No. 12 overall picks, with arguments circulating over whether the Cleveland will keep their picks for their own use or trade them up for an established quarterback. They have high draft picks in almost every round, so the options of prospects are plentiful. "And we'll explore every single one of them".

Kessler started eight games for the Browns in his rookie season, and despite a disappointing 0-8 record, he did show some promise. Brown spoke positively of his meeting with Texas A&M's Myles Garrett.

In my opinion, Webb is more of a pro-ready quarterback in this year's draft compared to Trubisky. The fan voting has us at a grade of 3.91 right now (1 = F; 2 = D; 3 = C; 4 = B; 5 = A), which falls in line with our previous pick. There is no premier quarterback in this draft, so the Browns can get the next best thing - a premier pass rusher.

Then again, the Browns could trade the pick away, clearing the path for the 49ers to draft either of them, in which case I think Webb, being a California product, would have the advantage over Trubisky. The clear top need in Cleveland is at quarterback, but frankly it would be a stunner if anyone other than Garrett was the first pick, as he is simply the best player in the draft. "We prepare a lot".

I just don't think the Browns are going to move up from No. 12 to get Trubisky. Coming under the most scrutiny are the 10 teams that stand in between the Browns' picks at No. 1 and No. 12.

"We're open to it", Brown said. That said, those are the names we'll focus on for the sake of this conversation. Brown left the door slightly ajar by saying the team could theoretically acquire a veteran quarterback, but that the team is not planning on adding a veteran.

Deshaun Watson will be drafted by the Bears, likely at #3 overall.

Since 2000, the only defensive players ever taken number one overall have been defensive ends. We just don't think that's a good way to do business over time. Perhaps most importantly was Hunt's evolution as a bona fide pass-catcher, as he hauled in 41 passes for 403 yards after having just 152 yards combined in his first three seasons.
