Refurbished Galaxy Note 7 begins appearing in the wild

Last month, Samsung announced plans to bring back the recalled Galaxy Note 7 in select regions.

LG said January-March operating profit was likely 922 billion won ($812.98 million), compared with a 518 billion won average forecast from a Thomson Reuters I/B/E/S survey of 24 analysts.

The good news for Samsung comes even in the wake of the explosive Galaxy Note 7 handsets and a political bribery and corruption scandal which is now on-going in South Korea.

Samsung said the figures are estimates of consolidated earnings based on K-IFRS as Korean disclosure regulations do not allow earnings estimates to be provided as a range. Now, the company has launched the second phone in the C series, the Galaxy C7 Pro which is just 7mm slim and has a full metal body design.

Profits are expected to have increased by a big 48% and the company says the profit for Q1 2017 was likely $8.8 billion, or 9.9 trillion won. Today here is the comparison between the Apple iPhone 7 and Samsung Galaxy S7.

While some companies have been struggling financially for quite a bit now, Samsung has been able to hold strong over the last couple of years.

The scandal involves Vice Chairman Jay Y. Lee and several top executives accused of bribery and embezzlement.

The independent counsel who twice sought to arrest Lee during his 90-day investigation into the corruption scandal that led to impeachment of Park Geun-hye also appeared in court on Friday.

Samsung did not elaborate on its quarterly results.

LG has estimated that its first-quarter operating profit rose 82 percent to its highest in almost eight years. The S8 was its first major smartphone launch since the fire-prone Galaxy Note 7 fiasco. They said Samsung's semiconductor division likely recorded profit much higher than expected, contributing more than half of the company's quarterly income as supplies of memory chips remained tight while demand from global smartphone makers was solid.
