Star QB Tom Brady to miss NFL champs' visit to White House

As he extolled the teams virtues and saluted individual players, the president did not name star quarterback Tom Brady, who notified the White House that he was dealing with a personal family matter and would not attend the ceremony.
Seven members of the team did not attend the White House event, including some who said they were skipping it for political reasons.
While Super Bowl champions have skipped the White House visit in recent years - including Brady, who cited scheduling conflicts in 2015 - all eyes were on the Patriots this year, who are in a particularity notable position because they have been linked to Trump in the past.
Some veteran players were simply bored with the process after appearing at the White House two years ago, the spokesman told the Times.
Trump has particularly close ties to the Patriots, counting owner Bob Kraft and Belichick as friends. The franchise has nine Super Bowl appearances.
