Amazon unveils 7-inch touchscreen Echo Show with Alexa support

According to Amazon's Echo Show product page, the $230 Dollars device features all of the hands-free voice-activated features of Alexa, as well as a 7-inch touchscreen that displays photos, YouTube videos, weather forecasts, music lyrics and more.

In addition to everything you can already ask Alexa to do - like managing your calendar, ordering items from Amazon, playing music or controlling your smart home - the Echo Show can play YouTube videos, show you video from your home security camera or make video calls.

Pre-orders of the new Amazon Echo Show are set to ship June 28th to USA residents. Just like the past Echo products, the Echo Show will come with Amazon's virtual, voice-activated assistant, Alexa. There's also a "drop-in" calling feature that lets someone turn on your camera remotely.

The official announcement of the recently leaked Amazon Echo with a touchscreen is closer than most expected, with Amazon said to be preparing to unveil the device as soon as Tuesday, May 9.

Amazon has been releasing new Echo products in quick succession over the past few months. The speaker comes with a price tag of $229.99 (around Rs 15,000).

This new device by Amazon is the company's fourth major Echo-branded model. This device has a 5MP front -facing camera and a Dolby powered dual 2-inch speakers. Additionally, free video calls are on offer if you have the Echo Show or the Alexa app. The feature comes preloaded on the Echo Show. The first Amazon Echo was launched three years ago, in 2014. Alexa will be able to hear all voice commands, as long as its woken up by saying, "Alexa", "Amazon", "Echo" or "Computer".
