"For 10 idyllic years, young Mija (An Seo Hyun) has been caretaker and constant companion to Okja-a massive animal and an even bigger friend-at her home in the mountains of South Korea".

It begins with Lucy Mirando (Tilda Swinton), CEO of a multinational conglomerate, publically pronouncing her firm's new initiative: 26 piglets, bred in a lab, will be sent to far-flung locales; in 10 years" time they will be gathered back to NY to see who has raised the superior "super-pig'.

The film will make its world premier at Cannes tomorrow, but you can slid it into your Netflix queue staring on June 28th.

The first trailer for Tilda Swinton and Jake Gllenhaal-starring film Okja has been unveiled. Directed and co-written by Bong Joon Ho, who adapted a French comic to make the apocalyptic train epic Snowpiercer, the film showcases a plot nearly akin to a Disney film, laced with darker themes. I have been waiting to see the full trailer for Okja since the project was announced.

For all the internal Cannes drama, it's unlikely the controversy will actually have much effect on Netflix's release of the film, which has been highly-anticipated. You see, nobody wants to see Okja die, but his species being the primary source of food will lead to fewer emissions, less waste, and a minimal carbon footprint. Those assumptions were only partially correct. One could go so far as to call the narrative of Okja global.

Mija's peaceful existence with Okja is quickly interrupted as Mirando puts her plan into action, kidnapping the animal and ripping the two apart.
