Senate Intelligence Committee requests Comey memos

The director did not take notes during the dinner with the president, but there were times, one associate recalled, when after meeting with Trump, Comey started writing notes as soon as he got into a vehicle to make sure he could accurately record what was said, according to the Post report.

FBI Director James Comey during the House Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence hearing on Russian actions during the 2016 election campaign, on Capitol Hill in Washington, DC, March 20, 2017.

"Trump began the discussion by condemning leaks to the news media, saying that Mr. Comey should consider putting reporters in prison for publishing classified information, according to one of Mr. Comey's associates", The New York Times said.

President Trump said: "No politician in history, and I say this with great surety, has been treated worse or more unfairly".

Striking a defiant stance, he added: "You can't let the critics and the naysayers get in the way of your dreams".

The fired FBI boss in a memo released by the New York Times said he had been pressured by Trump to drop the investigation into a former national security adviser, General Mike Flynn.

President Trump's own interviews, tweets and comments to the press are helping investigators determine whether he obstructed justice.

We believe the issues raised by the Comey memos are so vital that the public should have access to them without delay.

Despite knowing of the investigation, Trump appointed Flynn his first national security adviser.

Flynn had been kept on the job for 18 days after the acting attorney general, Sally Yates, had warned the White House that he could be subject to blackmail from the Russians because he had misled Pence. But that explanation imploded when Trump admitted in a television interview that "when I made a decision to just do it, I said to myself, I said, "you know, this Russian Federation thing with Trump and Russian Federation is a made-up story'".

"Officially noticed a hearing for next Wednesday at 9:30am ET with former FBI Dir Comey". In which same memo Trump also suggested the Federal Bureau of Investigation tries to imprison journalists who published classified information.

The Congressman said that his call for impeachment is a position of conscience for him and asked the American people to speak up. As a political matter, it more and more looks that way.
