Turner injures right hamstring, Dodgers beat Marlins 7-2

  • The benches empty during the eighth inning after Miami Marlins' Giancarlo Stanton was almost hit by a Los Angeles Dodgers pitch at a baseball game in Los Angeles Friday

LOS ANGELES The last time the Miami Marlins were here, it was weird. They didn't come on Thursday. Volquez was with the Dodgers for part of the season in 2013. And it's only May. Because the 91-mph fastball from Edinson Volquez (0-6) hit him in his non-throwing arm, Ryu was able to remain in the game. Joe Fontenot of the 108-loss team in '98 was the other.

"Everyone comes to the ballpark trying to win", Volquez said. "It's really frustrating for me to be 0-6". Nicolino threw two-hit ball over 7 1/3 innings in a 2-0 win over the Dodgers. Although he gave up two runs on four hits with five strikeouts and two walks in six innings in a 3-1 victory by the Atlanta Braves on Saturday, it was his fourth consecutive loss.

Volquez allowed five runs in six innings, although he finished well after allowing five runs in the first three innings.

"I don't remember everything but I still have a sour taste in my mouth from that" four-game sweep, he said. He put a pretty good swing on the ball. But they only scored one run.

After Christian Yelich homered off Ryu in the third, the Dodgers answered in their half of the inning on an Adrian Gonzalez RBI single.

The Marlins were outscored 22-4 in the three games against Houston, getting blanked 3-0 in the series finale on Wednesday. But it was not a vintage performance by the veteran.

Bour laced a 1-0 Ryu pitch into the seats in right for his ninth homer this season to tie the score in the second inning. Ryu also got hit by a pitch on his right biceps while trying to bunt in the fourth.

"He sent me picture", Volquez said". "He's a good friend of mine since we were with the Dodgers".

"Number one, I want him to be in the strike zone", Roberts said. That's how it's been going for a pitching staff that is now without three of its original five starters, with one demoted to the minors and two landing on the disabled list.

The Marlins are 1-7 in Volquez's starts.

Matters didn't improve in the eighth when Odrisamer Despaigne took the mound.

Kenley Jansen entered with two on and two outs in the eighth and struck out all four of his batters for his eighth save. Yasmani Grandal and Yasiel Puig delivered two-run, two-out hits for the Dodgers, who compiled a 3-4 road trip.

Marlins catcher A.J. Ellis, who was traded by the Dodgers last season to the Philadelphia Phillies, will make his first return to Dodger Stadium since the deal.
