Cleveland Browns sign sixth-round selection Caleb Brantley

20 Мая, 2017, 07:49 | Author: Alberta Rodriguez

The Texas A&M defensive end was the consensus top player in the 2017 draft and will be penciled in as the likely starter opposite of 2016 second-round pick Emmanuel Ogbah.

The Browns selected the 6-foot-4, 272-pound pass rusher with the hope that he can develop into a cornerstone player for the franchise, but Garrett surely has higher aspirations for himself than any National Football League franchise could set for him. So we hope surrounding him and doing the right things, he can become that great man. The Browns open next season against the Steelers, their longtime rival who has overpowered Cleveland in recent years.

In 34 games at Texas A&M, Garrett registered 32.5 sacks, 141 tackles, and seven forced fumbles.

"Unlike what [a reporter] said, he said I was slow off the ball, but that is coming from the very best", Garrett told reporters Sunday. The Browns now have signed six of its picks from April's draft. That is what any team would say or any player would say. You're trying to go out there and win games just like they are. The Browns locked up the former Aggie Friday to a four-year deal, with a team option on the fifth and final year of the deal. "They're not going to shy away from the challenge, and neither are we".

Garrett is a defensive end with the speed of a running back. I haven't been around a lot of guys like him.

If Garrett is able to produce close to expectations, his four-year contract will be a steal for the Browns.
