Mourinho hits out at Man Utd supporters and fixture schedule

  • Granit Xhaka scored the first goal for Arsenal

Goals from Granit Xhaka and Danny Welbeck shattered United's 25-match unbeaten run in the league as sixth-placed Arsenal closed the gap on fourth-placed Manchester City to six points with a game in hand.

"With the manager they have, the players they have on the pitch and the money they spend, that is embarrassing really that they can't score a goal in those games and it comes from Mourinho and the way he sets up his teams".

"I don't believe Celta dreams more than us, wants (to win) more than us", Mourinho added. "It's the first time I leave Highbury or the Emirates Stadium and they're happy", he said.

"Before when I left Highbury, they were crying, I left Emirates, they were crying". So finally today, they sing, they (twirl) scarves.

The 35-year-old, who will see his United contract expire this summer, said: "I'm personally desperate to get to the final and to try and win it".

"It's a big club".

"'I knew we were going to win it' and have two trophies". Honestly, I'm not enjoying that. Seventeen matches in seven weeks with 16 players is impossible.

"But today I tried to win".

"That's always when I feel at my best, when I get a few games".

The post I've not gambled on Europa League - Mourinho appeared first on Vanguard News.

"Apart from that, I can not ask more from players who do not play one minute of football in the past seven weeks like Smalling and Mata".

Mourinho's priorities are elsewhere though it seems this month, as he looks to guide United into the Europa League final and secure a place in the Champions League through that route.

The Gunners were in desperate need of a win after being humbled in the North London Derby last week and responded with a concerted effort which will go some way towards appeasing their disgruntled fans.

Despite fielding a weakened team, United were still able to call upon the services of experienced players such as Phil Jones, Chris Smalling, and Juan Mata so the defeat left United fans feeling dejected. The former Chelsea boss has been resting his key players for Premier League clashes to ensure they are fresh for their midweek European outing.
