A huge fire started at the 24-floor Grenfell Tower in North Kensington on June 14, engulfing the entire building and trapping nearly 120 families inside.
Public anger is mounting as residents and neighbors demand answers for how the blaze early Wednesday spread so quickly and trapped so numerous tower's 600-odd residents.
"This is an incredible distressing time for families and they have my commitment that we will do this as quickly as we possibly can", he said. Hands cautioned that officials don't yet have exact details about the renovation that ended just previous year.
She added: "This will be a detailed fingertip search".
It was reported that the material used in the cladding covering Grenfell was Reynobond PE - a cheaper, more flammable version of two available options. Experts believe the aluminum composite panels, which contain a plastic insulation material, may have helped spread the flames quickly up the outside of the tower.
Labour Party lawmaker David Lammy said that the government and the police should immediately seize all documents relating to the building's renovation to prevent the destruction of evidence that could show criminal wrongdoing.
"The response of the emergency services, NHS [National Health Service] and the community has been heroic", May said in a statement released Saturday after the prime minister met with victims and community leaders.
Mr Cundy said it was already clear that the total number of the dead "will be higher" than the figure previously given by police but said he would not "speculate" on a figure.
