India retained their position of three in the ICC ODI rankings after their consistent performance led them to the finals of the ICC Champions Trophy.

He was caught at 114 runs (106 balls).

An inspired Pakistan hammered a blundering India by 180 runs to lift the ICC Champions Trophy, riding on a scintillating hundred from rookie opener Fakhar Zaman and a sensational bowling spell from Mohammad Amir.

Amir finished with three for 16 in six overs and Hasan Ali, who kick-started Pakistan s revival in their group-win over top-ranked South Africa, ended the match when he had Jasprit Bumrah caught by gleeful captain and wicket-keeper Sarfraz Ahmed.

Pakistan have become the fourth team, after India, West Indies and Sri Lanka, to complete a treble of ICC tournament wins.

"Not just today, not just tomorrow, this day will be remembered in Pakistan for years to come, said a beaming Pakistan captain Sarfraz Ahmed as he made a passionate plea to other nations to play global cricket in their country".

It was a third consecutive score of 50-plus for the left-hander, who didn't feature in Pakistan's tournament opener against India but has been a revelation at the top of the order since. "So, hopefully, this win will boost Pakistan cricket and all [cricket] playing nations will come to Pakistan". The Indian bowlers failed to take wickets in the first half and in the later half, the star-studded batting line-up collapsed like a house of cards.

The four Pakistanis included left-handed opening batsman Fakhar Zaman, pace duo of Junaid Khan and Hasan Ali besides Sarfraz, who also doubles up as the wicketkeeper.

You can quantify runs Mahendra Singh Dhoni makes, the dismissals he inflicts behind the wicket but what cannot be quantified is the impact he has even when he doesn't bat. The final flourish was provided by veteran Mohammed Hafeez (57 off 37) with help of four boundaries and three sixes.

When Fakhar miscued the impressive Bhuvneshwar Kumar to a back-tracking Ravindra Jadeja at point, India pulled themselves back into contention. The way they turned things around, it was fantastic.

"Credit goes to my boys". It feels like deja vu after winning the 1992 World Cup. "They have been brilliant, and my fellow coaching staff and management team have been fantastic, as well", a sense of satisfaction was palpable in his voice.

"I think it's a very proud moment for me, my team and my country".
