Taylor Swift returns to Spotify after nearly three-year boycott

20 June, 2017, 13:18 | Author: Nadine Todd

In an announcement both on Twitter and Instagram, Swift's official fan account, "Taylor Nation", brought the good news to Swifties.

A couple of years ago, the Grammy victor shook the music industry when she penned an open letter to Apple Music as she slammed their decision to not offer artist compensations during the free trial of the service.

In 2014, the Shake It Off singer pulled her music from Spotify, where she was one of the service's most popular artists, after bemoaning that artists receive a tiny royalty per song play.

It may not be pure coincidence that today is also the day that Perry - with whom she has been in the midst of a public spat for many years - has released her long-awaited fourth album, Witness.

Taylor Swift and Katy Perry's "Bad Blood" continues.

She wrote on her Tumblr page at the time: "I'm sure you are aware that Apple Music will be offering a free 3 month trial to anyone who signs up for the service".

Good news for Taylor Swift fans! The unexpected return comes nearly three years after the Bad Blood singer abruptly removed her extensive catalogue from Spotify in a dispute over royalties.

Will Swift's return to Spotify, etc, hurt Perry's Witness?

Perry, 32, opened up about the "bad blood" between the two singers during a recent appearance on "Carpool Karaoke", a segment on "The Late Late Show with James Corden".

She continued: "But, what I wanna say is that I'm ready for that B.S.to be done".

She's clearly now come to terms with the new music landscape and has reconciled her differences with Spotify.

JUST when we thought the long-running Taylor Swift / Katy Perry feud couldn't get any pettier.

This is the last thing Perry needs as she launches her new album to an inarguably lukewarm reception.

Well, something tells me she'll also find this Machiavellian move by Swift as equally as messed up.
