UT/TT Poll: Despite Russia inquiry, Texas GOP voters solidly trust Trump

President Donald Trump on Friday took a break from taking shots at the federal probe into whether he attempted to obstruct justice to tout a new poll showing his approval rating among Americans is 50 percent. The problem is, that unless Trump is comparing his one outlier poll to Obama's approval on some random obscure date, then the remainder of his tweet is a blatant lie.

A news release on Friday from Rasmussen Reports notes, "This is the first time the president's overall approval rating has hit the 50% mark since late April".

"The new Rasmussen Poll, one of the most accurate in the 2016 Election, just out with a Trump 50% Approval Rating".

Other polls reflect much lower approval ratings for Trump. He said Democrats are not fans of the state's junior senator - "he's got to write off 33 percent of the electorate" - but said Cruz's strength with Republicans gives him a solid foundation.

Asked to rate the job Congress is doing, 15 percent said they approve, while 67 percent disapprove. Among Tea Party Republicans, Abbott gets approving nods from 90 percent; Patrick from 78 percent.

President Donald Trump, Melania and Barron are holed up in Camp David, as reported by the Inquisitr, having traveled there in style.

Democrats and other Trump detractors might expect mounting evidence of Trump's failings to disillusion his supporters, but there are few signs of erosion among Trump's base - even on subjects that might lead to alienation. This no doubt informs many Democrats' astonishment that Trump supporters don't see him as they do.

Texas opinions were divided with 39 percent holding a favorable view of the existing health care law and 49 percent an unfavorable view. Two in five Texas voters - predominantly Democrats - believe Russian Federation influenced the 2016 election and in a way that benefitted Trump.

The poll surveyed 1,068 Americans from June 8 to 11, and respondents were interviewed either by phone or online.
