CNN reporters resign over retracted Russian Federation story as Trump goads network

  • Anthony Scaramucci a senior adviser to President-elect Donald Trump talks to reporters in the lobby of Trump Tower in New York. CNN isn't commenting Monday June 26 as to what led it to retract a story about

Three investigative journalists at CNN have resigned after the network retracted a story about a congressional inquiry into a link between a Russian investment fund and an American financier who is an adviser to President Trump.

The story had stated that USA lawmakers were investigating a possible link between a Russian investment fund and Mr. Trump's officials. That story did not meet CNN's editorial standards and has been retracted.

Trump wrote in a Tuesday morning tweet, "Wow, CNN had to retract big story on 'Russia, ' with 3 employees forced to resign".

Across pro-Trump media, pundits and reporters jumped on the incident as an example of the network's lack of credibility and repeated claims oft-repeated by President Donald Trump that the network was "fake news". Three CNN journalists who had been involved in the story resigned after the retraction.

CNN is reportedly implementing strict new rules for the network's stories regarding Russian Federation.

So they caught Fake News CNN cold, but what about NBC, CBS & ABC?

Lichtblau, a Pulitzer Prize-winning reporter hired by CNN in April from The New York Times, also worked on the Comey story earlier this month.

Citing CNN CEO Jeff Zucker, he said: "Just to give you some context, President Trump pulled out of the climate accords and for a day and a half we covered the climate accords".

Concha says part of the problem with CNN's reporting is that their journalists are more concerned with their biases and bylines than with proper sourcing and corroboration.

"What you just did is inflammatory for people all over the country who look at it and say see once again the president is right and everybody else out there is fake media, and everybody in this room is trying to do their job".

CNN's public relations staff refuted Trump's notion that the network is hurting, saying it is completing the most-watched second quarter in its history.

The story connected entrepreneur and Trump ally Anthony Scaramucci to the alleged investigation into the fund.

Worse yet, members of the Trump administration are "high-fiving each other over Anthony's success in embarrassing CNN".

The most recent story resulted in a full retraction and relied on a single anonymous source.

As senior news executives reviewed the story's evolution, they found red flags that appeared to have been ignored, according to a person with direct knowledge of the events at CNN.

Of course, that CNN produces fake news isn't news to us.
