FIRST ALERT FORECAST: Scattered showers and storms likely each afternoon through Friday

  • Showers and storms in the forecast today, still mild

Some of the rural areas may sneak into the upper 40s. July 4th will be a partly sunny day with a slight chance for late day storms. Otherwise, it will be mostly sunny with highs in the 80s.

Rest of Today: Mostly sunny and warm with highs in the mid to upper 80s. The air feels comfortable too, as a welcome break from the humidity continues.

Tuesday Night: Scattered showers and maybe a thunderstorm early.

THURSDAY/FRIDAY: The "muggies" come back with rising dew points, and accordingly we will need to bring back the chance of scattered showers and thunderstorms. Expect a mix of sun and clouds today with a quick passing shower this morning and more popping up late in the day similar to yesterday. Tonight will be mostly fair with a low in the mid 60s. We do not think the entire day will be a washout, but it will be mostly cloudy and any storms that do develop could produce heavy rainfall.

Times of clouds and sunshine with a shower or t-storm in parts of the area. This would not be good news for towns holding their fireworks celebrations Sunday!

Sunday looks a bit cooler with highs in the 80s, perhaps upper 70s at the coast. Highs will be in the 80s and 90s with gusty winds, and ever increasing fire danger. We are not expecting a complete washout, but showers and thunderstorms will be possible throughout the day, which would be bad news for the parades scheduled throughout CT! If you have outdoor plans this weekend the biggest weather issue will likely be the heat with only a 20% chance of isolated showers.
