I'm probably not the only old-school Nintendo fan with conflicting emotions today. The unit comes out of the box with two very well designed Super Nintendo Controllers.

The latest console will come with 21 games including The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past, and Star Fox 2. This console fits in the palm of your hand.

The SNES Classic will have 21 games installed on it when it launches, nine less than the NES Classic, which had 30 games on it to start with. After that? "We have nothing to announce regarding any possible shipments beyond this year". Logic tells us that things should be better this time. But will it? Or will history just repeat itself?

Old video game instruction booklets are like little time capsules - they're filled with gorgeous artwork, expanded story information and often, essential gameplay tips. The marketing ploy was supposedly meant to drum up publicity for the Japanese company, which launched its flagship new console, the Nintendo Switch, earlier this year.

Speaking of McCloud's new-old adventure, its inclusion here may be a good sign for the SNES Classic being widely available. Making manuals natively accessible in the SNES Classic Edition menu would be a nice upgrade.

The console officially launches in the United States of America on 29 September and comes in at US$80. It is not yet available for pre-order.

We heard murmurings of a mini SNES console earlier this year, following the success of the mini NES. In-fact, it was done so far in advance that Nintendo could have apparently released the game more than 18 months before the Nintendo 64 released.

Nintendo's official site confirms the possibility of using a Classic Controller or Classic Controller Pro, but unlike the Mini NES, you can't use the bundled SNES-style controllers with the Wii or Wii U.

Nintendo announced the SNES Classic Edition, and fans got pretty excited.

The mini system, which contains 21 pre-installed classic games and can be plugged into any high-definition TV using the included HDMI cable, will be available for $79.99 Dollars starting September 29. Nintendo also said that it has learned its lesson and won't repeat the same mistakes as with the NES. Collectors will no doubt want to get both if you can find them. The NES Classic Edition had a limited production run and it looks like the SNES Classic Edition will be in a similar position.
