  • Imagineers are mad at Trump for stonewalling Disney World's Hall of Presidents

Disney Imagineers say they have a mechanical bust of the Republican all ready to go. In 2009, Imagineers travelled to Washington, DC so that President Obama could record his lines when he was added to the ride. In a statement to the media, Trump's press team said that the Administration has been "working closely" and harmoniously with the Disney team, and that "the president's recording session" has been scheduled. Let us enjoy it, cherish it, defend it, and pass it on to our children as the bright and attractive blessing it is - this enduring American dream.

In May, Iger told CNN Money that Disney had delivered a script to the White House. Now the Mouse House is suddenly in the unenviable position of Trump's State Department, desperately trying to keep the Trumpbot on message and avoid ruffling feathers with park-goers on either side of the aisle. One source close to Disney's imagineering department described the dilemma to Motherboard in May. At the time, Disney Park's promised a June 29 reopening.

Trump, however, isn't making the process easy.

The Hall of Presidents, an attraction located in Disney World (that's the Orlando location) at the Magic Kingdom park is a historical show featuring animatronic renderings of all 45 US presidents. With a precedent of George W. Bush, and Barack Obama being included with speaking parts, it would be pretty pointed not to let the Trumpbot speak, too.

The delay was due to wrangling with Trump representatives over what would be said in the speech.

Of course, there's also the risk that if Trump isn't allowed to write his own bot's speech, he'll take to Twitter and bring the wrath of his support base down on Orlando, Florida. "You guys have no input on this'".

In the meantime, the Hall of Presidents remains closed, depriving thousands of parents daily the opportunity to force their children into a great man glorifying history museum rather than riding rides.

Walt Disney World announced it will be adding President Trump to their roster of speaking US leaders in their "Hall of Presidents" attraction in Orlando, Florida.

A specific date for the reopening of the attraction was not given except to say that it will happen in "late 2017".
