This combination of undated photos provided by the Bucks County District Attorney's Office shows four men who went missing last week: Tom Meo, top left; Jimi Tar Patrick, bottom left; Dean Finocchiaro, top right; and Mark Sturgis, bottom right.

The remains of 19-year-old Dean Finocchiaro were found Wednesday in a 12-foot grave on property owned by DiNardo's family, authorities said.

Authorities had charged DiNardo earlier this year with having a gun despite an involuntary mental health commitment. The person spoke to The Associated Press on the condition of anonymity on Thursday because he was not authorized to publicly discuss details of the case.DiNardo is charged with four homicide counts and 20 other crimes, including abuse of a corpse, conspiracy and robbery."I'm sorry", DiNardo said Thursday as he was led into a police van.His cousin Sean Kratz, 20, faces 20 counts, including three homicide counts.

On Wednesday afternoon, Weintraub said investigators had found a auto allegedly stolen from one of the missing men and charged DiNardo with theft. DiNardo and Kratz picked Finocchiaro up, but then changed their minds about selling him the drugs and instead plotted to rob him.

The two then placed Finnochario's body in a metal tank DiNardo referred to as a "pig roaster". Even as the investigation stretched on for days, centering on a farm not far from the Delaware River, the Bucks County district attorney said he clung to hope that the men would be found alive. "The boys get to home to their families", he said of the murder victims, "which was always our first priority". Patrick, who was a year behind DiNardo at a Catholic high school for boys, was last seen on July 5, while the other three vanished on Friday.

DiNardo then shot Meo in the back with the handgun, later shooting Sturgis as he ran away.

"We'd still be looking for Jimi Patrick if we hadn't made that deal", Weintraub said.

Dinardo admitted to "his participation or commission in the murders of the four young men", his attorney, Paul Lang, said Thursday.

Later that day, DiNardo met Meo and Sturgis in Peddlers Village for another pot deal.

Bucks County District Attorney Matthew Weintraub speaks during a news conference at the Bucks County Courthouse in Doylestown on Friday, July 14, 2017. Dinardo allegedly used the backhoe to lift their bodies up and put them in the metal tank with Finocchiaro's body, according to the complaint.

Finocchiaro, Meo and Sturgis all knew each other, the AP reported, and news outlets have reported that cars belonging to two of the men have been located.

He said investigators may never know the exact reason why the men killed the victims.
