Supreme Court Judgement Stuns Sheriff Camp

  • I’d have resigned if Sheriff had won at supreme court says PDP BoT chairman

"Barely six hours after the Supreme Court judgment in the case of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), where it ruled in favour of the Senator Ahmed Makarfi's faction, Adjenuhgure posted in his Facebook Timeline that $42 million was found in Sen".

The Chairman of National Caretaker Committee of the party, Senator Ahmed Makarfi, stated this in an interview with reporters in Abuja on Thursday.

But in a statement signed by his spokesperson, Hon.

This comes in the wake of Ali Modu Sheriff's surrender for the leadership of the party.

"We therefore view the said message as fake and mischievous and should be discountenanced as that of evil doers", the statement said. We did not occupy the office illegally or committed any offence. The Supreme Court of Nigeria is the highest court in our land and we await the copy of the full judgement delivered on July 12, 2017.

The former party Chairman has also reportedly vacated the national secretariat of the party, which he had occupied since February after the Appeal Court judgment that recognized him as chairman.

"No one owns the party and those making unguarded and reckless statements in the public domain should realise that the solution to the problem of Nigeria is beyond any political association".

Makarfi, who described the last 14 months as very worrisome for the party, however, said there was no need punishing those who made the party to experience the setback.

The leadership of the party has announced that the National Convention of the PDP has been slated to hold in October.

He said the party must look inward, learn from its past mistakes and ensure that things were done in a transparent manner going forward.

Recall that the apex court had earlier put an end to the lingering leadership crisis rocking the opposition party.

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), said it has launched house to house mobilisation of members and supporters ahead of the 2019 general elections in Oyo State.
