Apple is using World Emoji Day to preview upcoming emoji that will feature in iOS, macOS and watchOS later in the year. Apple will also be adding a bearded man, a woman wearing a headscarf, and a woman breastfeeding a baby.

Apple boss Tim Cook showed off the new images in a post celebrating World Emoji Day. Oh, and there's a zombie emoji coming, too. But Cupertino took the time today to preview some of the incoming new characters in a press release published on Monday, July 17.

Last month, mobile dating app Clover analysed data from its users to see which emoji get the most responses when used to start up a conversation.

More animals are joining the list of emojis including a T-Rex and a zebra.

The App Store has also been updated with a #WorldEmojiDay section highlighting apps like Emoji Me Face Maker and Disney Emoji Blitz.

Some of these will be welcome additions for large swathes of the world's population that haven't been represented in emoji form-including women who wear headscarves, and anyone with a beard.
