  • SHOCKING: Indu Sarkar Pune event cancelled after political workers create huge ruckus outside Madhur Bhandarkar's

"Can I have my Freedom of Expression".

"This is wholly erroneous, and controvery like this ought to not materialize due to the fact I produced a film as a filmmaker and I am saying that 70 percent of film is fiction and 30 percent is actuality". One of these workers told PTI that they were only trying to meet Bhandarkar and express their displeasure over the film. The actuality is primarily based on the publications and the documentaries produced on them.

Citing that he has been known for making movies, which are hard-hitting, real and topical, Bhandarkar has appealed other filmmakers and the public to side with him over the issue as this reeks of suppression of freedom of expression.

"My motion picture is primarily based on the tale of a husband and a wife, who have contradictory opinion about the Crisis". The movie Indu Sarkar is set in the backdrop of the period of Emergency from 1975 to 1977. My film is an psychological journey. The filmmaker also faced the anger of Congressmen in Pune as the party thinks that his film may malign the image of Indira Gandhi and her son Sanjay Gandhi. Before he could leave for the event, around 50 Congress workers led by city-president Vikas Thakre gathered in front of the hotel.

"If the producers had nothing to hide about the movie, they should have first shown it to the Congress leaders and the members of the Gandhi family". The legal notice alleged that the trailer of the film was misleading in its portrayal of the late Congress leader.

"After a Pink', I wanted to do something with which people will get surprised again so, Indu Sarkar seemed as the ideal fit as it has Emergency as its backdrop". Today it has come to our knowledge that the Secretary of Indian Youth Congress, Rutvij Joshi and his team are going to agitate over Indu Sarkar infront of Pahlaj Nihalani, Chairman of Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC).
